We always find ourselves wishing celebrities wore more vintage on the red carpet. Sure, we get that many have standing relationships with design houses and their stylists want to put them in the hottest things off of the runway, but there’s nothing quite like seeing decades-old dresses get a modern update.
Case in point: Thandie Newton‘s chic sleeveless frock from yesterday’s Rogue premiere in Los Angeles, which she picked up from London vintage boutique The Gathering Goddess (warning: if you’re as much of a vintage fiend as ourselves, that site may suck you in). The black ’50s dress featured a simple bodice, nipped waist, and full, textured skirt — and, no doubt, not a whiff of must or mothballs. The actress kept things current with the accessories, opting for gold lace Jimmy Choo sandals and delicate jewels by Solange Azagury-Partridge, and finished it all off with an old-meets-new beauty look of romantic, side-swept hair and a magenta lip.

this is some kind of spaceship or something.
