The Met Honors Anna Wintour With Namesake Wing

Anna WintourThe annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute is the event of the season. The charity fundraiser hosted by Vogue is enjoyed by only the crème de la crème, which means the Kardashians are always trying to claw their way in. (Only Kim has succeeded. Thanks Kanye!) In October Page Six reported that Wintour wanted to make tickets to the themed event even more coveted by upping the price from $15,000 to $25,000. (Anything to keep those Real Housewives away, we suppose). With that kind of exclusivity, it is no wonder Wintour has been able to raise approximately $125 million for the Costume Institute.

As a sweet token of thanks, the Met has honored the editrix with her very own wing (sort of). The museum space that houses the Costume Institute will be known as the Anna Wintour Costume Center. This seems fitting when you consider that Wintour had her hand in the two-year renovation and redesign of the space. The complex will reopen on May 8 and feature the exhibition “Charles James: Beyond Fashion.”
