Just when we think we have Target all figured out, they up the collaboration ante. Today we got a sneak peak at Target’s latest retail concept, and we can confidently say it rules.
The Shops at Target is the latest design program for the mass retailer, and it involves partnering with boutiques and specialty stores to create limited edition collections. The first run of the program will debut May 6 with five very different stores from across the country. There’s The Webster (apparel and accessories from Miami), Cos Bar (beauty products from Aspen), Privet House (decor and home accessories form Connecticut), The Candy Store (sweets from San Francisco), and Polka Dog Bakery (dog toys and treats from Boston). The five collections boast 400 exclusive products that range from $1 to $160, and will be available online and in stores for six weeks only.
This is a really clever idea! As the tagline explains, these are “the shops we stumbled upon and couldn’t help but fall in love with”. It feels really personal, right? Much more so than say the (still really awesome, but certainly not personal) designer collaborations with the likes of Jason Wu and friends. Expect another round of The Shops at Target — different stores, different product categories — to be introduced later this year. For now, check out the photos (and video!) below:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
