The Week In Review: June 14 to 18

They say you can’t know where you’re going until you realize where you’ve been. With that in mind, we’re taking a glance back. The past week has been a roller coaster of fashion news and events — and luckily, we were there to catch the good, the bad, and the ugly.

On Monday, we learned just how much a dress Marilyn Monroe is worth at auction (hint: more than the average American home), and we learned the difference between a button down and a regular dress shirt. If you do not know the difference, please click here.

Then on Tuesday, American Apparel gave out head man Dov Charney‘s phone number and asked you to call in with your concerns about his stringent look code for new hires. We also finally got a glance at Coco Rocha‘s wedding dress, and we found out that Christian Dior wants to brand our eyeballs.

Wednesday came around and mom and dad’s claws came out over Suri Cruise‘s kitten heels, Dov Charney answered the calls from the day before, and Darth Vader got decked out from head to toe in Band of Outsiders.

Thursday was a little trying. Tom Florio announced that he would leave his position at Conde Nast where, among other things, he was publisher of Vogue. Kelly Cutrone announced that retail was over. Esquire magazine announced that Brooklyn Decker is the sexiest woman alive. Actually, that last announcement wasn’t too bad to deal with.

On Friday, we were in love with Megan Fox‘s dress at the premiere of Jonah Hex. We were not in love with Katy Perry banning straight guys from the set of her music video for California Gurls. And we were deeply saddened that the world lost Tom Nicon, an amazing model whose presence in fashion will be dearly missed.

And now, we’re getting ready for a whole new week of covering runways, retail, media and beauty news. Stay tuned!
