“More is more” seemed to be the name of the game at the Toronto International Film Festival last night. More ruffles! More sequins! More drama! Classic red carpet glamour abounded, and we have opinions!
Much like the first few days of the festival, we have few complaints about what we saw on last night’s red carpets. So far, so good! The big fashion credits of the night were Kiera Knightley in Elie Saab couture, Eva Mendes in Dolce & Gabbana, and Julianne Moore in Alexander McQueen. Each of them looked lovely; Kiera and Eva both worked their translucent lace, and Julianne Moore’s plunging neckline was sexy yet age-appropriate.
Selena Gomez also opted for sheerness, but we’re slightly torn on her look. The dress is certainly interesting, but there seems to be some disharmony between the bottom and top halves of dress. That said, we don’t dislike it, and it’s growing on us. Our feelings about Ashley Benson‘s sparkly frock sort of went the opposite way — at first we were wowed and totally loved it, and then started to realize that the skirt’s shine might be less figure-flattering than we would like.
Elle Fanning‘s suit (which we’re 99 percent sure is Prada fall 2012) was a very bold choice, and we think she pulled it off. Not everyone could have, but she’s young, adorable, and can wear anything. Our surprise of the night was Kristen Wiig, who wore a dress that we could picture on Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey if it were just a smidge longer. It really suited Kristen, and might actually be one of our favorite looks from her!
