Take note, those who worship at the altar of Swinton! If you missed her at the Bowie premiere, well, time it right, and you may get to see the uber-cool androgynous beauty napping at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art this month.
No, Ms. Swinton isn’t homeless and catching her zzz’s on gallery benches. She’s reprising a performance piece she first put on in 1995 called “The Maybe,” in which she sleeps in a glass box in the middle of one of the MoMA’s rooms, while visitors mill around and ogle the art. There’s no set schedule to when she appears, however, says the museum:
“There is no published schedule for its appearance, no artist’s statement released, no museum statement beyond this brief context, no public profile or image issued. Those who find it chance upon it for themselves, live and in real-shared-time: now we see it, now we don’t.”
We’re equally as interested in whoever’s watching Tilda’s closet while she’s locked away… Because that’s where we’d be headed.
