It turns out that whether they’re in Vogue Paris or in a hotel ballroom in Austin, TX, little girls wearing too much makeup and grown-up clothes are just plain inappropriate. And what makes it worse? Their parents are the one who got them these gigs in the first place. Case in point — this video from the most recent episode of Toddlers and Tiaras, in which a toddler named Mia struts around in a cone bra not even Madonna could manage. (Because it’s made of gold lame instead of pink silk and wasn’t actually designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.)
Is it creepy? You bet. Is it made worse by the fact that there’s an entire institution that condones this sort of thing? Absolutely. Are you going to watch it in horror while you consider the fact that the garment being mimicked was worn while the woman who made it famous was simulating coitus? We can’t see how you wouldn’t.
