Toddlers & Tiaras has stooped to yet another low. However could that be possible, you ask? Well, a leather-clad four-year-old named Destiny strutted the pageant stage last night, all the while puffing away on a kid-sized cigarette.
The cancer stick was part of Destiny’s Olivia Newton John in Grease costume, and in case you were concerned about the legality of the stunt, her mother Lisa makes a point of assuring viewers that the cigarette is fake (“I would definitely not give my child a real cigarette.”) But she may still lose out on the Mom Of The Year Award for her “Don’t forget to smoke!” comment from the pageant sidelines, which failed to impress even the judges. And when you offend the people who put up with stuff like Honey Boo Boo‘s mother every day, you know you’re really crossing a line.
We understand moms like Lisa are trying to get as close to “reality” as possible with their daughter’s costumes, but maybe the solution here is picking outfits that are in fact appropriate for kids who have yet to finish kindergarten (read: feature neither padded bras nor tobacco products). Just a thought.
