It’s hard to imagine anyone criticizing Tom Ford for anything, but it turns out that even fashion’s golden boy has his detractors. In a candid interview with CNN, Ford reveals that Yves Saint Laurent wasn’t happy with the direction Ford was taking his eponymous label, and made his thoughts crystal clear in a series of angry letters handwritten to the designer.
Ford tells CNN:
“You know, he was supportive at the beginning…We were quite friendly, we had dinner a few times and I had him up to show him the first collection…But when I started to get great press and the business started to become sucessful, Yves became really quite hostile and we had a little bit different taste. I have letters that he wrote to me about it, you know: ‘In 13 minutes on the runway you have destroyed 40 years of my career.’”
