Another weekend, another reason for the royal family to wear fancy hats. Queen Elizabeth II may have turned 85 back in April, but as per tradition, her birthday celebration took place today.
The Trooping of the Colour is a procession that marks the reigning monarch’s birthday, and it’s been held in June for centuries. You know, because the weather in London is lovely in June. (This is true! We were there last June! Totally lovely!) The whole Windsor crew came out to celebrate, of course. Prince William wore his Irish Guard wedding outfit with a big ol’ bearskin hat that had a blue feather stuck in it, while Kate donned white and an elegant black thatched chapeau.
As per usual, the birthday girl looked trendy in a blue coat with funky print lining and statement buttons, and an asymmetrical hat. The festivities were also attended by little kids (cute!) and Prince Harry (cuter!), as well as a lot of ladies in spectacular headwear. We’re really never going to get over how awesome British hats are. Never.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
