Victoria Beckham has never struck us as someone who minces words, which is why it wasn’t at all surprising to hear that she’s not as over-the-moon for Lady Gaga as the rest of us.
In an interview in Vogue Russia’s July issue, the mother of three, designer, and fashion icon in her own right said of Lady Gaga:
“I am a gay man in a woman’s body, so God supposes I should love singers like Lady GaGa. It’s complicated, on the one hand I wouldn’t like to have all her songs on my iPod and listen to them over and over. On the other hand, I admire the Lady GaGa phenomenon.”
But does she really? Beckham doesn’t seem entirely sold on Gaga’s Haus of Gaga style.
“At first I didn’t like her or the way she dressed. Now she is working with designers and wearing couture clothes. Bit by bit she is finding her image and it’s nice to see it as she is undoubtedly talented girl…”
While we personally love Gaga — she’s consistently entertaining, if not always indicative of our particular aesthetic — we love Ms. Beckham for speaking her mind. Not everyone has to love everyone and it’s refreshing to see that Beckham can stay true to her own opinions — particularly in the relatively sycophantic worlds of fashion and Hollywood.
