Sure, Victoria Beckham has never worked a day in her life (unless you count that brief stint as a Spice Girl) but apparently that hasn’t hastened her love of all thing corporate. “Coming from London, I looked at Savile Row with stars in my eyes,” she said at a recent dinner hosted by InStyle Magazine and the CFDA in honor of designer Bryan Atwood.
But apparently loving suits from a-far just wasn’t enough for Beck’s business savvy better half and so she’s taken it upon herself to create a capsule collection of tailored separates–even sporting one of her wares to the party.
“I always design things that I love and I’ve been obsessed with tailoring—I love a great jacket,” she said. If it sounds a bit familiar, it should since Alexander Wang essentially made the same announcement a couple of days ago!
Talk about riding coattails. No word on a release date, so you’ll have to wait to put this one in your Smithson Filofax but regardless of the timing, we can’t help but wonder what is it with designers and suits? As if Balmain‘s office appropriate fall collection and Jimmy Choo‘s re-release of the kitten heel wasn’t Hillary Clintonian enough, now we get pant suits from the unofficial poster girl of the skin-tight mico-mini. Talk about hitting us non-corporate girls beneath the beltway. Next up: the return of the attaché case.
