Between Victoria Beckhams’s successful design career and David’s soccer stardom (and that bod), there’s no doubt that their lives are enviable. But we were still surprised by the amount of name-dropping and not-so-subtle references to their star power in Hamish Bowles’ profile in this month’s Vogue. It’s like they’re just rubbing it in our faces!
First of all, they like to hang out with Biebs on birthdays:
For Romeo’s birthday, as a surprise, the family took him to hang out in Justin Bieber’s studio while he was recording his Christmas album. Bieber sweetly sent the boys signed guitars afterward, but Romeo’s was signed to “Pax” (Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son).
Ha! And Victoria gets her clothes custom-fitted — by the designer, natch:
David took her to Alaïa in Paris, where the designer himself fitted her choices.
Of course, their friends are better than your friends:
The Beckhams have made forays into Los Angeles’s A-list life—evenings of parlor games chez Demi Moore, for instance, with guests such as Penélope Cruz and Eva Longoria.
Their house is straight out of a fairytale:
This evening, Diptyque’s Tuberose scents the air in the Beckhams’ soaring-ceilinged living room, and the sound system is tuned to Victoria’s favorite local swing-era radio station. The walls are silver-leafed, chandeliers and sconces drip with a rainfall of vintage, hand-cut-crystal drops, and a vast coffee table bristling with thickets of orchids and coffee-table books (Avedon Fashion: 1944–2000 and a Julian Schnabel catalog—there is a vast Schnabel on one wall) is flanked by two pale-gray sofas so wide they could each accommodate the lady of the house (with her 25-inch waist) 20 times over.
Also, their kids are cool:
Brooklyn strums “Here Comes the Sun” on his guitar, Romeo shows me his drumsticks (Elton John is one of their godfathers), and Cruz flourishes his tae kwon do purple belt—and some deft moves. “He’s very good at breakdancing. He spins on his head,” says Victoria.
Oh, man — their lives, you guys.
