After six days of intensive search-and-rescue efforts and nothing found in connection to the disappearance of Vittorio Missoni and the five others aboard his flight, there may finally be a new development in the story, according to the Daily Beast.
Venezuelan newspaper El Universal reports that a body has been found about 500 meters off the shore of the mainland, but while the initial story claimed that the body was that of the Missoni executive, officials are now saying that it in fact belongs to a fisherman and is in the “advanced stages of decomposition.”
Details are still murky, especially since the mysterious text message sent from one of the passenger’s cell phones 48 hours after the plane disappeared has yet to be explained, but we join the Missoni family in their hope that Vittorio and his companions are returned home alive and safe.
Also on the story, Good Morning America aired footage today of the missing plane taking off from the airport in Los Roques, as well as photos from their trip shortly before they disappeared.
