A spokesperson for the Venezuelan interior ministry has announced that the plane carrying Vittorio Missoni has been discovered.
The small aircraft, which disappeared off the coast of Venezuela six months ago, had been carrying the Missoni fashion executive and his wife Maurizia Castiglioni plus another couple, a Venezuelan crew member, and the pilot. Missoni was the eldest child of the fashion house, which showed its Men’s Spring 2014 collection in Milan four days ago, and co-owner with his siblings Luca and Angela.
Earlier this year it was revealed that the airline that owned the plane was not fully licensed to operate and that the pilot’s license had expired more than a month before the flight. A month later, Vittorio Missoni’s bag was found on the island of Bonaire.
“The Plane that crashed on January 4 has appeared,” Interior Minister spokesperson Jorge Galindo said before confirming to Reuters that it was Missoni’s plane. Details of the location and the plane’s condition have not been revealed.
