Bit by bit, pieces of Carine Roitfeld‘s final issue for Vogue Paris have been trickling in. Just under a month ago, Roitfeld revealed her cover image, featuring 29-year-old model Saskia de Brauw and hinted that the blurry, low-fi image (and accordingly, the accompanying spread) was inspired by a film. Now the entire blush-toned spread starring de Brauw and 15-year-old model Daphne Groeneveld — yes, she of the Tom Ford cover that may or may not have been the editrix’ demise— is here, but we’re no closer to figuring out Ms. Roitfeld’s vision.
The spread is titled “Coeur a Corps Perdu,” which a few sites have translated as “Heart Has Lost Body”, but is actually something more along the lines of “Heart Of The Lost Body.” It’s a darkly beautiful series that feels delightfully Roitfeld-ian in its grainy, gritty, impossible-to-focus-on-the-clothing glory — and is, if you ask us, a nicely nostalgic note for the outgoing editor to end on. Now, if only we could figure out its silver screen affiliation…
What do you think?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
