We can imagine the nerves that come along with meeting the FLOTUS, but one would think that a late night talk show host, who has shaken his fair share of famous hands, would be pretty jaded when it comes to getting starstruck. Not so for Jimmy Fallon! On LNWJF last night, he was a veritable bundle of butterflies when he welcomed Michelle Obama to the stage, professing multiple times how excited he was to have her on the show.
The “Evolution of Mom Dance” spoof was pretty hilarious, but our favorite moment came when Fallon plied Mrs. Obama with a series of questions about her “firsts,” and she described to him her first date with Barack. A romantic walk down Chicago’s Michigan Avenue? A trip to the Art Institute, followed by a movie and drinks? “He really pulled out all the stops,” she told Fallon.
The second guest of the evening was Scarlett Johansson, on the circuit promoting her play Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, whose attitude was also in keeping with the theme of the evening. She recalled her nervousness at meeting the President at the Democratic National Convention, and being unable to say much to him besides, “I love your wife!” To which he responded, “I do too.”
It’s official: MObama is the most popular girl at the party, and we’re happy to give her the accolade. Watch both the interviews below.
