Raise your Rouge-Rubis-manicured hand if you too believe Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli are some kind of benevolent, navy-attired sorcerers who’ve sprinkled the sparkliest, most delicate fairy dust imaginable over the house of Valentino. Skeptical? You won’t be after you take in the pure enchantment that is L’Unico, a three-part short film the brand recently released on Facebook to advertise its Nov. 14 show in Shanghai.
With footage from Fall 2012 couture, the series documents a gown’s journey from atelier to Vanessa Axente‘s back, with cameo appearances by our old friends Caroline, Tilda and Kasia, as well as those by countless white-coated petites mains and assistants scurrying around hairspray-ing topknots. A soft-focus lens and, you know, the whole Valentino aesthetic might’ve romanticized the process a bit, but seriously — if moonlight filtering through lacy, high-necked gowns doesn’t get you out of bed at 9:00 p.m. China Standard Time (8:00 a.m. EST), nothing ever will.
