It wouldn’t be a proper awards show roundup without the worst dressed yin to the best dressed yang. And although there weren’t too many glaringly offensive fashion foul-ups, there were a few looks that left us scratching our head more than Fantine did after her haircut.
One of them, of course, being Anne Hathaway. Her last-minute Prada dress left a lot to be desired, not least because it reminded us so much of the one she wore to the Paris Les Mis premiere. We’ll leave all the yammering about the chest region to the Twitterverse, but let’s just say that we had higher hopes for the gown she’d be wearing while she gave her acceptance speech (in which we teared up, by the way, dress or no dress).
And then there were those who overdid it with the sparkle. Catherine Zeta Jones, Nicole Kidman, and Sandra Bullock all selected heavily sequined dresses, then topped them off with bulky chandelier earrings and blingy accessories. (We’re still a little puzzled about Bullock’s hair piece.) It wasn’t like any of them made us keel over in horror, but these ladies are red carpet royalty and seasoned veterans to boot. We expect more, dang it!
We never like pinning a worst dressed tag to the lovely and sidesplittingly funny Melissa McCarthy either. But what could have been a super flattering (and comfortable!) David Meister number missed the mark, leaving the actress looking too covered-up and as if she had a black trash bag tucked randomly into the folds of her skirt. And we wonder if she and Maria Menounos went to the same hairstylist. Haven’t we all learned by now that giant hair is a no-no at spectacle events outside of Texas?
Think these ladies deserve to be in the Hall of Shame? Tell us what you think!
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
