There are no shortage of potential coverlines to be gleaned from Zoë Saldana’s Allure cover shoot and inside interview. She says she’s over dating actors, might “end up with a woman”…and she’s naked, for goodness sakes! So why did the magazine’s editors opt to draw attention to her weight?
The actress was photographed by Tom Munro for the issue, sporting a head of voluminous curls, natural makeup, and a Gucci camisole — although later she strips down to an H. Stern cuff and nothing else. The coverline, ostensibly there to entice newsstand browsers to pick up a copy, reads “Zoë Saldana: 115 Pounds Of Grit And Heartache”. And while we’re loathe to take the weight bait, the actress is 5 feet 7 inches tall, so it almost feels like the mag is out to drum up some controversy. Is it really necessary to indicate the exact number on her scale, no matter what it may be?
Check out the photos and a behind-the-scenes video below, and for more of Saldana’s cover shoot, head over to Allure.com and pick it up on newsstands May 21:
