3.1 Phillip Lim For Target Is Coming! Get Your First Look Here
That’s right, folks: another fast fashion collaboration is in the works! But this time, we’ll put aside our general ennui for a minute and confess that we’re actually pretty excited to see the final product. Why? Well, for one, Phillip Lim is one of the best contemporary designers in the game right now (who doesn’t covet his Pashli bags?), and for another, this Target collection is way overdue.
According to a press release from the retailer, the line will hit Target.com and most Target stores on September 15, and will include 100 items in categories ranging from apparel, handbags, and shoes, to travel accessories in a “classic palette of neutral tones and prints.” Pieces will cost $19.99 to $299.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $59.99 for accessories.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the designer explains that talks with the mass retailer began five years ago, which, if you’re counting, was right around the time his 3.1 Phillip Lim label started taking off and back when Target only had a handful of designer collabs under their belt with their “Go International” initiative. As for why Lim finally agreed, we’ll let him do the explaining:
“It was a courtship of five years now and what was exciting to me this time around was that they gave me the opportunity to do lifestyle instead of a capsule collection of dresses or blouses or something that might be diffused. It was the chance to really create a new concept of the modern day wardrobe and accessories to really address the modern day citizen.”
Excited? We are. And not least because our Prabal Gurung for Target sandals are already looking like they’ll be our go-to shoes of the summer.
