REVEALED: Macy’s Announces Their Next Designer Collaboration!

Doo-Ri Chung‘s (awesome — we’ve seen it!) collection for Macy’s doesn’t hit stores until February 15th, but the retailer has already revealed the next designer in line.

Macy’s tapped Alberta Ferretti to be the sixth designer in their Impulse collaboration program. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the Italian designer has created “about 30 pieces inspired by the Amalfi Coast” and featuring “feminine dresses, peasant blouses, garden-party looks, oversize and abstract floral prints, [and] knitwear”. The items are priced between $49 and $119.

The collection will bow on April 17th and be available for ten weeks. While past collaborations have been available in 220 Macy’s stores, the Ferretti collection will only be carried in 185, which Martine Reardon, Macy’s executive vice president of marketing, told WWD is part of the streamlining process. “We are trying to understand where these collaborations work very well, and where it’s not working so well, but in each case we always want to make sure that we are giving solutions to customers,” Reardon explained.

Reardon also revealed that Macy’s plans on continuing the Impulse collections through 2013, at a rate of five designers per year.
