Amar’e Stoudemire To Design Women’s Line For Rachel Roy
It looks like New York Knicks power forward Amar’e Stoudemire could soon have something in common with Karl Lagerfeld, which is to say: a clothing line at Macy’s. Page Six reports the 6’10″ basketball star is teaming up with Rachel Roy to produce a line for her Macy’s contemporary label Rachel Rachel Roy.
Details are scarce, but it’s thought the line will be a women’s collection and that it will launch in the fall. Oh, and random fun fact: Amar’e wears a size 15 shoe!
But what fashion cred can an NBA star have? We’ve investigated, and here is what we’ve come up with:
2. He attended Fashion’s Night Out and hung out with Hamish Bowles during Fashion Week.
3. His girlfriend is former Ford model (and Kanye ex) Amber Rose.
4. Off the court he dresses like this.
5. He’s been quoted as saying: “I love fashion. I love watches. I love shoes. I make sure that every time I step out of the house, I’m feeling comfortable and fashion-forward. Depending on the occasion, I dress the part.”
Also! This summer he explored his potentially Jewish roots, so he could totally join the old school Jewish fashion designer mafia and hang with Calvin, Donna, Ralph and Diane (or the new class — Marc, Zac, Yigal and Charlotte). So, in sum, he actually might have a bit of fashion cred, but that doesn’t mean he can actually design things. Guess we’ll see come fall.
