Avril Lavigne Wants Her Clothes To Reach A Global Audience

We will forever and always associate Avril Lavigne with wife beaters, ties and Hot Topic. Suffice to say, skater boi fashion really suckz. But did you know Avril was a fashion designer? Because she is. And you will now be able to buy her crap designs online.

Two years ago, Avril started a juniors line called Abbey Dawn that she sold at Kohl’s. But now she’s expanding! To the INTERNET. And to stores with names like Trash! (Seriously, she’s going to start selling her wares to a store in New York called Trash.) Reports WWD: “By introducing monthly mini collections of new product throughout next year, Lavigne is ramping up for the spring 2012 debut of a full-fledged juniors fashion line with sportswear, denim, swimsuits, dresses, loungewear, activewear, shoes and handbags.”

So why is Avril distancing herself from Kohl’s? Because her clothes need to be available to an international audience! Duh. WWD points out that “although she loses the reach of Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Kohl’s 1,089 stores in 49 states and misses out on the retailer’s marketing campaigns, the performer is using her music career as the stage for starting a global business.” Is Kohl’s pissed? If they are, they shouldn’t be since some private equity analyst lady was all, “It’s not something that is dramatically important to the overall business.”

Avril has lots of things to say. Lots of them.

“I’m designing it for me, really. I learned a lot about myself with designing.…The stuff I was really excited about [for Kohl’s] did well. It gave me the confidence.…You don’t have to be perfect. It’s about having fun. It’s a lot of fun. It’s another way to be creative. It’s all the same. It comes from me.”

“I wear more stuff now like tights [and] leggings. Dresses a little more; the T-shirts that hang off the shoulder. I guess you can say a little older.”

“The inspiration for my line comes from my personal style. I’m designing the things I want.…I’m not a huge fan of floral. I like stripes and plaid and polka dots and allover prints of skulls. [Abbey Dawn’s] a brand that’s very bold and colorful.…It’s for that girl who has an edge and has fun expressing herself through fashion.”

But for as much as we ragged on Avril’s style in this post (but can you really blame us?), we’re including this video because we like to dance around to it in our underwear. We encourage you to do the same.

This little chick makes me gag but Trash is an institution. It’s sad that they are selling her stuff when it’s really kiddie knock offs of the dirty village rock look that Trash helped invent and define over the past few decades. Like, Trash is to Crabby Dawn as Blondie is to Avril Whatshername.

I think Avril had some so really nice clothing, I only own a for items, but what I bought was comfortable and casual and affordable, I often receive compliments when I were abbey dawn items. But what I don’t get is why some people here are so opinionated about the line when they have never owned any of the items, sure some of the items are targeted to younger girls, but some of the items are aimed women in their 20′s and 30′s, and I really love what I currently own and I look forward to some of the new items she has planned.

wow your name fits you perfectly “LaMe!!!” :p …you have no right to call her trash. if Trash was an institution youd be in it. if you dont like her clothes then dont buy it youd be better off with rags and plastics-K? why hate? :p

I think Avril is AMAZING! I love all her songs and it seems she is a really independent kind of singer. I really think she should continue doing what she loves and ignore all the haters everywhere. :) Besides, AVRIL is an INSTITUTION. I’m Canadian and I love the song “Alice”and “Girlfriend” and yes, it is fun to dance around with it in your underwear. XD
