The Great Backpack Comeback: Lanvin, Alex Wang, And More!

It’s been a while since we’ve updated you on the status of The Great Backpack Comeback, but rest assured — it’s in full swing. And while we want to whole-heartedly embrace the fashion industry for embracing the backpack, we’re also kind of sad, because what does this mean for six months from now? Will backpacks be out again? The backpack is not a trend, it’s a utilitarian carrying case which one can and should use year ’round, forever and always, despite and in spite of what the winds of Wintour may be telling you.

But let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth, because the popularity of the backpack means there’s no shortage of styles for you to choose from. In the last week alone, we’ve come into contact with four styles as covetable as they are unique.

1.Alexander Wang

This velvet, leather, and ribbon detailed backpack might be our favorite out of the bunch, but it's also $775 which, we'll be honest, is about $700 more than we'd like to spend. That said, if the price point of Wang's accessories fits your budget, we heartily endorse this purchase.

2.Jeremy Scott

OK, so, we lied. All of these backpacks are expensive. But who doesn't like to window shop? Jeremy Scott's metal plated version reminds us of those ubiquitous Nike / Reebok rope-strapped knapsacks, except way cooler. But yeah: $987.

3.Fjällräven Kanken

We've told you about Kanken bags before, but now they've teamed up with Opening Ceremony to release three extra awesome and exclusive color combos -- all for the ready-to-purchase price of $65 (or $45 for the mini, but we recommend going whole hog.)

4.Lanvin

Yes, Lanvin makes backpacks. And while we generally discourage the sportier genre of knapsack, if you're looking for a slightly more sartorial Northface replacement, this one's for you. The price, however, remains a mystery. And probably for good reason.
