How Much Money Did People Spend During Black Friday Weekend?

Black Friday is sort of the worst. Ever. But hey, people bought lots of stuff! Here is a by-the-numbers breakdown of this past weekend, versus last year’s stats:

-226 million v. 212 million: shoppers who visited brick-and-mortar and online stores

-$398.62 v. $365.34: average amount spent

-$52.4 billion v. $45 billion: total amount spent

It’s estimated that shoppers spent between 3-8% more than they did last year. Black Friday is considered the biggest retail day of the year, followed by the Saturday before Christmas (which is apparently called Super Saturday). Now we’re just waiting on those Cyber Monday numbers…
