Cynthia Vincent Is Launching A Home Collection
Last week we attended the opening of Cynthia Vincent‘s flagship store in Nolita, and the verdict is in: we totally dig it. Every inch of the the cozy space feels personalized, filled with assorted ephemera that echoes Vincent’s signature glamourous-yet-bohemian style.
Vincent herself was the most gracious of hosts, welcoming us as if we were guests in her home (which we sort of were!). When we gushed over the decor, she let us in on a little secret.
“I’m going to be dabbling in home, for the store exclusively and for the online store. I even made this blanket, this fur blanket with tails and with the silk ikat on the back. These are vintage finds that I am going to manufacture. And this comes from my prints because everyone loves the prints. I print them on canvas, and I’ll be doing them for home — mostly pillows to start.”
We want Cynthia Vincent ikat pillows! The California-based designer is still seeking a space in LA, but is excited New York is the site of her first boutique. She even has a great list of New York musts: Chelsea Market (“I’ve been going there on weekends to find things for my store.”), Hecho en Dumbo (“I swore, it was my grandmother. The flavor profiles were so authentic, but the food itself was so refined and clean.”), and the Museum of Natural History (“My daughter always comes with me, and she always has to go see the dinosaurs.”)
And, like every good designer, she has really rad taste in music:
“I am really into these remixed David Bowie tracks. The KCRW DJs did this whole remix of classic David Bowie songs, so I’m in love with that. Santogold is still on my iPod — I just can’t get rid of her. Funny enough, I’ve been listening to Bow Wow Wow, pulling out the old school.”
The Cynthia Vincent flagship store is located at 253 Elizabeth St.
