PHOTOS: Naughty Diesel Ads Piss Off Brooklyn Law School
Diesel is no stranger to provocative advertising, but this time its photos have ruffled more than a few feathers. The Italian clothing company shot its latest campaign in the Brooklyn Law School library. The resulting risque pics pissed off the school, which claims it was misled by Diesel.
A spokesperson for the school had this to say to Above the Law:
Television and movie producers frequently ask for permission to use our beautiful facilities as a backdrop and we try to oblige when we can. When we gave Diesel jeans permission to do a photo shoot, we understood that jeans, and not what is worn under them, would be the subject of the shoot. We would not want to create the impression that the featured attire was approved by us.
Interim dean Michael Gerber even sent an e-mail out to students and staff addressing the photos:
We are as shocked and mortified as you must be by these photographs. When the school gave its permission to do the shoot, the school was assured that the photos would be in good taste. They are not.
We can’t decide if Brooklyn Law officials are being too prudish, or if the ads (which are indeed quite racy) really do cast the school in a poor light. As cliched as they are, library fantasies do have a certain collegiate charm to them — and while the Brooklyn Law library isn’t the sexiest library we’ve ever seen, the pictures sure are… suggestive.
