Elin Kling Fêtes Her Marvelous Monochrome Marciano Collab

“Black, black, black, black. Always black.” Whatever jewel tones and autumnal shades fashion glossies are touting this season, Elin Kling knows her color.

True to form, the impeccably-dressed entrepreneur and blogger behind Style By Kling was clad head-to-toe in the hue last night at Home Studios for the launch of her collection for Guess by Marciano — a collection that, as you might have already guessed, is heavy on the whole monochromatic look. Circling the space, we spotted Arrow star Katie Cassidy and 30 Rock‘s Katrina Bowden, both in Marciano minidresses, posing with Olivia Palermo, who looked like the coziest person in the room in a mustard knit from the collab.

Kling was inspired, she told us, by the brand’s rich history and the select pieces that make up its core identity. “I thought it was fun because the brand is turning 30,” she explained in her lilting Swedish accent. “I wanted to bring back these iconic pieces, but bring them up-to-date for 2012.”

Up-to-date in her hands means prime street style fodder, from a cropped bustier styled with a high waisted stretch skirt to a so-wrong-its-right acid wash denim. Jeans were a must for the collection from the beginning, since Elin’s first purchase from the label was a pair — well, as far as she can recall, that is. “I have a memory worse than a goldfish,” she laughed.
