Your Friendly Neighborhood Guide To Fashion’s Night Out

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably as overwhelmed as you are excited by this year’s worldwide edition of Fashion’s Night Out . And after such wild success last year, it seems everyone has decided to up the ante on their events: bigger celebrities, better discounts, and crazier parties are to be expected across NYC and around the globe on September 10th — which, if you’re counting, is only 24 days away!
And in case you’ve had trouble wrapping your head around the endlessly updating calendar of events FashionsNightOut.com launched today, providing you with organizational tools and information to help you plan your ultimate evening. But if you don’t have hours to plow through the hundreds of events listed, we’ve gone ahead and done the work for you. Here’s Styleite’s location-based guide to the best events of the evening. 1. Chelsea: Balenciaga
Designer Nicolas Ghesquière will host his FNO event at the Balenciaga boutique in Chelsea. Opening at 8 PM, the store will host an exhibit of famed photographer Cindy Sherman 's Untitled (Balenciaga) Series. At 9 PM, model turned singer Karen Elson will sing from her debut album The Ghost Who Walks .
Where: 542 West 22 Street btw. 10th and 11th Aves.
When: 8 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
2. Upper West Side: CRUMBS Bake Shop
We know, we know. Fashion and food? An unlikely match. But you're going to need some stamina to fight off the crowds at various locales. CRUMBS Bake Shop on the Upper West Side will have its very own "Fashion's Night Out" cupcake, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the NYC AIDS Fund. We can't think of a more delicious way to up your energy level.
3. SOHO: Elie Tahari
Elie Tahari may not immediately invoke the coolness of some of the other events going on this FNO, but after reading the description on the event's website, we couldn't help but earmark their store as a place to be on the 10th. The store will host "A Night Out In Old New York," fully equipped with an old fashioned Polaroid photographer, musical performances by the Nunziata Twins , and some '20s inspired gift-with-purchases. We'll give you a hint -- they involve feathers!

When: 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
4. Meatpacking District: Helmut Lang
Bring your friends for this neighborhood-centric event. Helmut Lang is hosting a block party that will spill out onto the street. Cobrasnake , DJ's Harley Viera Newton and Cassie Coane , and a whole host of hipster trendsetters are said to be attending.

5. Upper East Side: Hermes
Remember that awesome Hermes site we told you about last week? Well this FNO, that website will come to life in a J’aime Mon Carré show at their Upper East Side boutique. From 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., you can meet with Hermes specialists who will teach you how to tie your scarves for any occasion.

When: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
6. East Village: Karaoke Karnival at Kiehl's
Fashionistas singing karaoke? Yes, please! If you can't make it in to Barney's, Keihl's will be hosting their own karaoke party, fully equipped with cocktails, food, and of course, prizes for the night's best singers.

7. Brooklyn: Clinique Counter at Macy's Kings Plaza
If you're like us, no matter how hard you try, your makeup bag just simply cannot stay organized. Which is why we are so excited for the Clinique event at Macy's in Brooklyn. The “Makeup Bag Confessions” event will help teach you how to best organize yours!
Where: Macy’s Kings Plaza, 5400 Avenue U Brooklyn
When: 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.
8. Queens: Queens Center
Sometimes it's best to do a good one-stop shop. The Queens Center will have events at an array of shops including JCPenney , Swarovski , Banana Republic , Sephora , and Steve Madden among others. Instead of having to hail cabs or teeter your way around NYC's subway stations, you can be entertained by in-store events, discounts, and celebrity appearances all in one place.

9. Nolita: Duane Reade?
We also hear the Duane Reade in NoLita will be hosting a special event, but must to our dismay, details have not been released. We wonder who will be there !
10. Midtown: Barney's
Largely considered the flagship of Fashion's Night Out events, Barney's will host a karaoke contest judged by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and the Proenza boys, and Daphne Guinness will be on hand to sign perfume bottles. You can also play ping pong against the designer duos Rag & Bone, Rogan, and Shipley & Halmos. Be prepared for madhouse at the front door.
11. London: Chanel
Chanel’s global creative director of makeup Peter Phillips created shades of nail polish specifically for Fashion's Night Out, and you can get avery exclusive manicure at the brand's London outpost.
12. Paris: The Golden Triangle
Shops all over Paris' three most venerable shopping streets, Avenue Georges V, Avenue Montaigne and Rue Francois 1er will participate in the event, and shoppers might get a few styling tips from Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld.
13. Los Angeles: Rodeo Drive Ferris Wheel
Word has it that there will be a gigantic Ferris Wheel somewhere in the 200 block of Rodeo Drive, but if you want to ride it, you have to present a receipt from one of the street's FNO participants as a ticket.
14. Tokyo: Opening Ceremony
We're gonna be honest: we can't read Japanese. But we did enough digging to figure out that FNO Tokyo's opening ceremony is going to be full of models, actors, musicians and stylists, not to mention Itai Maiko, the current reigning Miss Japan. Sounds like a fun time to us!
