Gilt Groupe Implements Much-Needed Return & Shipping Improvements
There are plenty of reasons why Gilt Groupe is a smart company, and one of them is its willingness to adapt and improve as customers (and the market) see fit. The retailer’s latest round of changes came to Gilt customers via an email blast, and we’re willing to call them a collective game changer.
Our biggest complaint when it comes to Gilt has always been the inability to get refunds on returns. In the past, if an item was eligible for a return, you could only get Gilt credit. This sucked! Now not only will more items (accessories!) be eligible for return, you will be able to get a full refund on your credit card! They’ll deduct the cost of return shipping, but still! It remains an option to get Gilt credit instead, in which case the company will pick up the return shipping tab. A few other welcome changes include a flat shipping fee of $5.95 for all purchases, and the ability to return via USPS.
These may seem like a bunch of small tweaks, but the result is a much-improved customer service experience. And as one of our Gilt-addicted friends pointed out woefully, this also means items will probably sell out even faster. However, we’re willing to be super aggressive shoppers (we’ll even log on at noon on the dot!) to get the goods we really want, especially if we can get refunded when something doesn’t fit or look quite right.
Well played, Gilt. This is why you’re valued at a cool $1 billion.
