How To Shop The Ralph Lauren Runway In Your Bathrobe

Not to hit you over the head with it, but times are still pretty darn tough for the fashion industry. And if you’re a designer, you’ve got to stay ahead of the curve to keep competitive: see Roberto Cavalli’s recent entrance into the blogosphere, Prada’s stepped-up branding efforts, and all the live streaming that’s been going down on the runways lately.

Well, leave it to Ralph Lauren to raise to stakes. In step with the discussion about bringing the industry calendar in line with well, the actual calendar, today Lauren unveiled a new and improved website which features a virtual and completely shop-able fashion show. Yes ladies, that means as you watch the models hoof it down the runway in the latest Lauren-approved garb, you’re given carte blanche to fill your e-cart.

And that’s not all. While you peruse, the sleek site gives you an earful of commentary from a virtual front row of editors — including Nina Garcia (Marie Claire), Adam Glassman (O Magazine), Avril Glassman (Harper’s Bazaar) and Michelle McCool (Cosmo) — who offer up opinions and styling suggestions. It all feels a little HSN-inspired to us, but for fans of the designer’s timeless take on American chic — who can’t wait to get their paws on this spring range — this is certainly welcome news.
