Jackie O’s Fake Pearls Are Worth How Much?

Jackie Onassis was known for her beauty and pristine sense of style. Which is why we’re always interested when an auction comes up involving something owned by the former First Lady.

Bonhams of England will be auctioning off an iconic three-strand pearl necklace of Jackie’s on August 15th. But one insider would like to remind everyone that even some of the most fashionable women know when to save and when to splurge.

Apparently the triple strand necklace with its emerald and diamond clasp, which is estimated to go for $47,000, may, in fact, not be real. The pearls, which are most definitely synthetic, are rumored to be valued at a few hundred dollars. Apparently — for fear of losing any of her pricey gems — Jackie often opted for fakes.

So what drove the auction price up so high? The fact that they were worn by Jackie, of course. And for that, we think $47,000 is a steal!
