Jason Wu For Target Hoarders Claim The Clothes Were For Charity

There’s nothing like a little good spin, is there? The Miami couple who selfishly purchased nearly the entire stock of Jason Wu for Target at their local Target outpost say they never had any intent to resell all those clothes at a ridiculous markup on eBay. Instead they’d planned to donate those clothes to charity all along.

Kevin Wills, the male half of the couple caught on tape piling every last item of the Wu collaboration into their baskets on launch day, told The Miami New Times that purely altruistic motives drove him to buy the collection. Wills says he and his girlfriend hatched the plan a few weeks before the collection hit stores: They would go in, grab as many of the clothes as they could carry and dole them out at an upcoming charity event. Wills said the total bill for the haul was just under $5,300, but that no price is too high to do something good for society.

“I like doing charity stuff,” he says. “I like going to the ghetto and passing stuff out of my car.”

And we’re sure the people of the ghetto just love Wills’ benevolence. His verve for giving back will be on full display on March 4 at a Dress for Success pop-up-shop in Miami. For $10, shoppers will gain entry to the event, where they can buy Jason Wu for Target at store price if they make an additional charitable contribution, and they’ll be entered into a raffle to win one of the scarves from the collection. Wills says that if he can raise $5,000 in donations before the event kicks off, he’ll donate the whole lot to Dress for Success.

Whether or not he’ll donate the money he raises to Dress for Success is unclear — The New Times doesn’t say, and neither does the event’s official Facebook page. But we would much rather run the risk of never slipping into Jason Wu For Target than make any transaction that was going to benefit someone with the audacity to dress his greed up as generosity, even tangentially.

Sounds like they couldn’t get their asking price on eBay, got ashamed at the backlash created, and trying to spin it. I hope no one shows up and they are forced to return it all. Who wants to pay $10 entry to buy stuff you can get at a store? Even now after the first wave of sell outs, stuff is being returned. I’ve found almost all of what is in the stupid picture for cost. And target didn’t charge me $10. Who’s to say they won’t pocket the entry fee anyway? You win d-chebag of the year award!

This is true BS. He still makes all the $$ and says nowhere that he’ll actually donate the MONEY. The “entrance” fee means that anyone who buys is paying $10 above retail price if they purchase any item. He probably lied about how much it all cost, too. The charity probably only gets any “charitable contributions” that people give. #pricktryingtocoverhisass

It’s a dick move, either way. Probably just covering his ass after the backlash since he was ID’d in the press and he’s probably getting the door fee, etc.
