Now Your Feet Can Look Like The Duchess Of Cambridge, Too!
On the day before and the day after her wedding, the newly minted Duchess of Cambridge was spotted wearing a pair of black patent leather espadrille wedges by British designer LK Bennett. In a stroke of absolute marketing genius, Bennett has decided to run a second production of those wedges and rename them Kate. And there’s already a waiting list for them.
The Daily Mail reports that the wedges, originally called Greta and priced at £150 ($244.50 at current exchange), will be available again for purchase in June, but there’s already a line of ladies who want to Wear What Kate Wore who’ve called first dibs on the shoes. But those who couldn’t bear to wait have already started snapping up espadrille wedges wherever they can. “The Kate effect has meant sales of all wedges have soared at Topshop, Hobbs and even Christian Louboutin.”
We don’t know what Hobbs is, but we do know a trend when we smell one — and we’re not just talking about the wedges, we mean “The Kate Effect.” The Duchess might be reluctant to own up to her fashion icon status, but a person who can inspire other people to buy (or not buy) things shouldn’t disregard that power. So we implore you, Your Royal Highness: Just don’t wear leggings as pants, and we’ll be golden.
