Leigh Lezark Is H&M’s Next Designer Collaboration
H&M hasn’t even debuted its hotly anticipated collaboration with Versace yet, and it’s already announced who it will be working with next. But instead of taking the “let’s find a crazy talented high-end designer and bring their work to the masses” route as they are wont to do, they’re working with one of those people who made their name as a very pretty and very social person.
Leigh Lezark will be curating H&M’s first shop-in-store at Selfridge’s in London.
“My philosophy on both beauty and fashion is to be yourself and find your own style, so for me the new edited down H&M at Selfridges is an ideal shopping destination,” says Lezark. “The curated pieces are, I feel, modern classics everyone should have in their wardrobe – and I have tried to throw in some colour too!”
Ooh, color. Maybe in the next time she can add in texture, too! Is anyone else slightly disappointed that H&M, for all its fashion world cachet, couldn’t get someone more … exciting and fashion-y to do this? if Macy’s can get Anna Dello Russo, why can’t H&M get, say, Daphne Guinness or someone equally cool to hop on board?
Anyway, if you’re in London the morning of August 25th, you’re in luck. The shop-in-store will open at 9:30 on that day, and we hear Lezark will be there, curating her fingers to the bone.
(Author’s note: If, like me, you’ve never actually heard of Leigh Lezark before today, what you should know is that she’s been a model and a muse for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, and her DJ group The Misshapes was apparently one of fashion’s greatest acts for a time. So Leigh matters! And so does her point of view. Or something).
(Editor’s note: I’m by no means Lezark’s biggest fan, but she kinda matters. In that “People Know Who She Is” sort of way. What do you guys think?)
