WATCH: Lily Allen Previews Lucy In Disguise At Selfridges

When we reported at the end of April that British singer Lily Allen was going to take a break from music, open a clothing store and allow the process to be filmed for reality television, we didn’t actually think it would happen. Celebrites ranging from Usher to Emma Roberts have talked about doing something in fashion, but it takes some real dedication to actually make it happen.

Which is why we were surprised when we heard that Allen and her sister Sarah Owen hosted a pop-up shop for their store Lucy In Disguise, in Selfridges this weekend. Celebrity Clothing Line reports that the two took over the store’s Wonder Room to hock a selection of vintage clothing on Friday, and yesterday Allen showed up to the UK premiere of Tamara Drewe in a very 60s dress. We have to believe that it’s something from her Lucy collection — it’d be downright wrongheaded not to wear clothes from the store you’re trying to get off the ground to an event where what you wear is guaranteed publicity.

There’s still no word on that reality TV show — perhaps because Allen and her sister don’t have a standalone storefront yet — but we’ve gotta say, it sounds like they know what they’re doing, with price points at the low and high end of the spectrum and items that might appeal to a wide variety of people. But in the glow of the last angry embers of the recession, we have to wonder whether or not this shop will last. But for now, check out what the duo had to say to the Associated Press:
