Is This The Somewhat Scary Future Of Online Shopping?
Online shopping is clearly having a moment. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen just announced that they’re launching a new e-commerce site, luxury high-fashion brands like Miu Miu are finally coming on board, and now a Swedish telecom company has created what might be the most interactive (and therefore terrifying?) online shopping experience we’ve ever seen.
We’re going to be honest: a lot of what they said in the video was lost on us. But the point seems to be that you can connect face-to-face with a salesperson who is sitting in front of a Minority Report-inspired screen via which they will tap, slide, and touch their way into your life and shopping experience. Naturally, we had to try it.
So, we went to Tre.se and clicked all the buttons that said “LiveShop” until we got to a screen featuring a timer counting down minutes which we assumed was our hold time. Unfortunately, as of press time, we were still on hold. (The number varied wildly between two minutes and twelve minutes. So thrilling! We never knew what was going to come up next.) And so, sadly, we have yet to test it out. Feel free to give it a try, though — and definitely report back. Bonus points if you speak Swedish.
