New Chinese Store Lets Angry Women Smash Objects

The word “retail therapy” has been redefined thanks to a shopping mall in Shenyang, China. Located on the building’s fourth floor, a recently opened shop gives customers the opportunity to release their anger through breaking assorted objects in its house-replicated interior. But there’s a catch: this form of therapy is for women only.

Last month’s phone bill caught you by surprise? Sent out 20 job resumes only to find out that no one is hiring? Grab a bat and helmet and rage your sorrows out! Secondhand televisions, telephones, dishes, and other typical household items are scattered throughout the store, which is divided into different zones, including a living room and bedroom so that “women can come here to feel like they are in their own homes but without limitations, and they can break anything here.”

According to China’s People’s Daily Online, the pay-to-slay format costs 30 yuan to 100 yuan (approximately $4.43 to $14.77 US dollars) depending on customer’s item(s) of choice — however, if at least 38 yuan of goods are purchased from the shopping mall’s indoor park, the raging is free of charge.

Since its inception, most of the women who have given this experience a swing fall under the white collar and college student demographics. Problems like the economy and job hunting have been a driving motive for the retail demolition.
