WATCH: Nicole Kidman Promotes A Mall… In Brazil

When we came across Teresa Giudice‘s tanning commercial, we were definitely amused but by no means surprised. C-listers doing local commercials seems perfectly normal to us.

But every once and while, we come across a side project from an A-lister that makes us wonder, why?

Case in point: this commercial Nicole Kidman filmed for a currently under construction mall in Rio de Janeiro — a mall that will be three floors, have 125 stores, six movie theaters and a 680-seat theater.

Barring the digital-representation of the mall, we must say, the commercial is quite beautifully shot. But the music — which reminds us of both elevator music and the tunes from TRESemmé commercials — definitely cheapens the ad.

And then there’s the larger question at hand: Why on earth is Nicole Kidman doing a commercial for a mall in Brazil? And why does the commercial end with her walking down a red carpet in an ill-fitting gown?
