Get A Piece Of Proenza Schouler’s First-Ever Collection At Barneys
Long before their PS1 handbags were a dime a dozen outside Lincoln Center and editors sat pining at their screens over patchwork leathers, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez were just two rookie designers making their much-buzzed-about debut at New York Fashion Week. Needless to say, they’ve come a long way, but Barneys New York is tapping into that initial excitement with an exclusive capsule collection of updated pieces from fall 2003, aptly called, “Proenza Schouler: First Collection.”
Launched in celebration of the label’s tenth anniversary, the partnership is especially meaningful because Barneys were famously the first to take a leap of faith on the young designers, scooping up their entire graduate collection from Parsons School Of Design. WWD reports that the line will consist of 19 pieces ranging from $850 to $5,650, including their iconic metallic bustier dress, and will be available at Barneys’ Madison Avenue and Los Angeles stores starting Friday (and, no doubt, sold out shortly thereafter).
“They started our career, so the idea of reissuing the first show felt full circle,” Hernandez told the Times’ Eric Wilson. “It just felt right to give them something special.” And as regular “vintage” Proenza-seeking eBay trollers, we assure that this is something special indeed.
