Q&A: Best Bets For Online Vintage
A: Yes! The internet is a virtual treasure trove of cheap vintage goods, you just have to know the right spots.
First up, Etsy.com is a fantastic aggregator of independent shops and has tons of great vintage purveyors. My favorite shop on etsy is Sally Jane Vintage. Sally Jane is a Pennsylvania based blogger who has been styling photos of herself in adorable vintage garb since I can first remember being on the internet! Girl is a pro. Check out her blog for a little bit of vintage whimsy and get the goods at her Etsy shop.
Second on my list is the uber popular (particularly amongst the fashion blogger set) site Nasty Gal Vintage. Their philosophy is that vintage clothes are just ‘pre-loved’ items ready for a new home. The site is expertly designed and hosts a ton of vintage goods from Balenciaga dresses to adorable ikat scarves. The prices are a bit steeper than the other sites but you can absolutely find some killer deals on the site and if not at least you can get some serious styling inspiration from their lookbooks!
BleuBird Vintage has a boho-chic vibe with lots of affordable embroidered tunics and Navajo inspired pieces for sale.
The site’s sole buyer and stylist, “miss” James Kicinski, is set to launch her own collection dubbed “The Tweet Collection” this summer.
Another internet avenue for vintage shopping is good ole’ eBay. I will, however, warn you that eBay can be a slippery slope. Once I started to dig into the thousands of vintage pieces on eBay, I found myself obsessively bidding, scouring the site daily, and spending more money than I had ever planned. Unhealthy to say the least! However, I recently discovered a couple of eBay stores that I cannot get enough of. American Archive, an adorable boy/girl duo based out of Encinitas, has a beautifully curated selection of vintage goods from fur vests to rad t-shirts. Another eBay charmer is Mama Stone Vintage.
