Saks Fifth Avenue Pulls Rachel Zoe’s Clothing Line From Stores

A little over a year after Rachel Zoe‘s eponymous clothing line made its retail debut, rumors are swirling that sales are not meeting expectations.

Last fall, Rachel Zoe Collection launched in all 41 Neiman Marcus stores across the country and Bergdorf Goodman, as well as competing specialty retailers both domestically and internationally, like Saks Fifth Avenue, Shopbop, Selfridges, Intermix. Yesterday, a Saks rep confirmed to BuzzFeed Shift that the collection is no longer available in stores. Things at Bloomingdale’s look equally bleak. BuzzFeed’s Amy Odell writes:

In Bloomingdale’s, Zoe’s line launched with a gorgeous, gigantic shop-in-shop, the creation of which was the subject of a considerable chunk of The Rachel Zoe Project’s fourth and most recent season. However, a visit to the Manhattan flagship store yesterday revealed just four racks and change of clothes belonging to the Rachel Zoe Collection. A salesperson in the store said Zoe hasn’t had significant space on the floor since last year. “She had a full shop,” said the employee. Now it’s “just a couple of racks.”

The news seems disheartening, especially considering the reach of Zoe’s platform and celebrity, but not hopeless. Zoe has no shortage of Hollywood style icons parading her fashions around in front of the ever-snapping lenses of paparazzi, and her heavy online presence bodes well for a wide-consumer base. And, lest we forget, this is a woman with her very own show, the fifth season of which Bravo recently renewed. And that’s better brand placement than any shop-in-shop can give her.

I don’t think its disheartening. Just because you’re a celebrity does not mean you should have a clothing line. – http://www.thefashionlaw.com

It’s no surprise, she tried to take her “celebrity” too far. She should stick with what she is good at, creating a successful collection is not as easy as having a celebrity following. That’s flash in the pan stuff… a successful collection comes from knowing what women want and making clothes that fit… two things the Rachel Zoe collection was missing from the very beginning.

Honey, you need to take a vacation with your husband and baby, for a few months. You are overworked, exhausted beyond belief, and your family is sorely missing. Your husband puts up with it better, because he has a baby to love, when you’re not there, or there!! You have a family, time for a game change. Stress kills.. good luck peace
