Sarah Jessica Parker’s Inevitable Shoe Line Is In The Works
15 years ago today, a tutu-clad Sarah Jessica Parker endured her first splash from a city bus, thus beginning her tenure as Carrie Bradshaw, she of the $40,000 worth of shoes and nowhere to live. Today, Parker is finally dipping her (very squashed) toe into the footwear business herself. And, naturally, she’s doing it with the help of Manolo Blahnik‘s longtime CEO.
Vogue.com today heralded the imminent arrival of SJP, the multi-hyphenate actress’ line of shoes, handbags, and “a few trenches” that she is developing alongside veteran industry executive George Malkemus.
Unlike Blahnik’s pricey fare, however, SJP’s shoes will retail for $200 to $300, while handbags will set you back under $700. “We’re putting new colors together that people don’t typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet,” Parker tells the glossy. “And in terms of bags, thinking about that period of the seventies into the eighties, what those women were carrying, taking away the bells and the whistles and hardware and really making it about the bag.” To which we say: ’bout time! Bring on the goods.
