Selena Gomez Now Has Her Own Crowd-Sourced Fragrance
Not to be outdone by boyfriend Justin Bieber or crooner Adam Levine, Selena Gomez is jumping onto the celebrity fragrance bandwagon with a yet-to-be-named ugh de parfum.
However, we do know that the bottle is shaped like a purple gown with a topper made of metallic lips (check it out below) and will be sold in Macy’s stores and online for $45 and $55 beginning in mid-May. So original.
WWD reports that the fragrance will include “top notes of orange, pineapple, peach, and raspberry; a heart of purple freesia, Cosmone musk, and dewberry, and a drydown of amber, vanilla, chocolate, and coconut”. How did she ever come up with such intoxicating notes? By holding a contest, obviously!
The pop star picked her favorite ingredients for the top notes, heart, and drydown, and then asked her fans to vote on their favorite. Gomez and her perfumers created three different combinations based on the most popular ingredients and flew groups of fans to New York to test the fragrances.
We have to give Gomez some credit for not following in the great Celebrity Fragrance Tradition of pretending to have “created” the scent in the first place.
