PHOTOS: Check Out These Wacky Shoes Made Of Appliances!
Selfridges is known for its crazy visuals — some of which are eye-catching (yellow sheep!) and others of which end up being horribly offensive (remember that McQueen window?). In honor of its new Shoe Galleries (the biggest shoe department in the world), the British department store enlisted Dutch artists Lernert and Sander to help create some wacky windows. Says the design duo:
To help celebrate the launch of their epic new Shoe Galleries, Selfridges called on us to create 11 sculptural installations that take iconic shoe design to surreal extremes. We have taken the most mundane of household domestic appliances and comedically refashioned them into divine creations. A humorous take on fashion as an ideal escape from the daily grind.
The “shoes” — made of irons, brooms, dishwashers and more — are quite a sight to see. If you won’t be making it to London in the next few weeks, don’t worry! We have pictures of the magnificent footwear below.
