Q&A: How to Find a Stylish Weekender

Stylish Weekender bag. Go.

Oh, I love a challenge! I desperately need a new weekend bag (my free-gift-with-purchase Victoria’s Secret duffel is not so cute). So, why is it so impossible to make a cute overnight bag? I mean, why not just enlarge one of the purses we already love? Why does everything have to have tons of flowers or worse, nylon rainbow leopard print? Ugh. Here are my favorite chic overnight bags for you to purchase and in the meanwhile we can burn any GWPs we may be harboring!

I recently stumbled upon this absolutely killer Pendleton Navajo print weekender bag at Urban Outfitters (WANT!). Though I have a feeling this whole Navajo/tribal trend is going to have a short shelf life. I can hear my mother already saying “it might not be the best ‘investment.’” A smarter investment might be this Rag and Bone mini Gladstone bag. Cotton, plaid, leather detailing and gunmetal hardware, FTW. This will probably never go out of style because it exudes that “Oh, my boyfriend and I are going to Cape Cod for the weekend” feel, and lord knows boys who take you on vacation never go out of style.

The other option is to hop on the backpack bandwagon! Urban has some awesome Joey Potter-esque New England College-y (yes, that is an adjective and yes, you know exactly what I am talking about) backpacks for under $70! These provide loads of compartments to store all your cosmetic goodies which we all know tend to explode anyways. Another great place to look is an Army Surplus store, which sells things like this super cute army green parachute bags for $19. And if all else fails you can join the ranks of the Long Champions and invest in this classic.
