Tom Ford Is Not At All Involved With Net-A-Porter’s Men’s Site
Back in June we reported that Net-a-Porter would be launching a men’s site called Mr. Porter. It might actually be called MR PORTER (in all caps, sans period), but either way, Tom Ford wants you to know that he is in no way affiliated with the site.
The e-tailer is set for a soft launch for “founding members” (which is not as exclusive as it sounds — simply go to mrporter.com to sign up) next month. As such, the marketing emails have commenced! Yesterday one such email blast was sent out by a guy named Tom Ford. Not that Tom Ford — some Mr. Porter exec named Tom Ford. Tom Ford (the sexy, sexy designer) was not pleased. Fashionista posted a release they received regarding the (not so) scandalous case of mistaken identity:
Recently we have received calls from the press as well as calls from individuals regarding correspondence that they have received from the on line retail website “Mr. Porter” signed by a person named Tom Ford.
Please note that neither Tom Ford, the Designer, nor TOM FORD, the fashion brand, has any involvement whatsoever in Mr. Porter and that any correspondence received from Mr. Porter has no relation to Tom Ford, the Designer, or TOM FORD, the fashion brand.
TOM FORD also does not sell any TOM FORD products to Net-a-Porter or its affiliate Mr. Porter and neither Net-a-Porter nor its affiliate Mr. Porter is an authorized distributor of TOM FORD products.
This whole thing feels very “Will the real Tom Ford please stand up?” Also, kind of silly. Relatedly, we’re super excited to see how Mr. Porter turns out. Stay tuned!
