Disney Collaborates On The Coolest Shoe Ever

Movie tie-in fashion normally sucks. No, seriously. How many holes have you worn into all of your Twilight-branded apparel? How faded did your last Harry Potter t-shirt get when you washed it for the first time?

But in an attempt to do right by, well, itself and its new movie “Tron,” Disney collaborated with Canadian shoe designer Jerome Rousseau to create the gorgeous piece of shoe you see to your left. It’s not an Alexander McQueen alien boot, but you could do much, much worse for a product tied to the remake of an 80s sci-fi flick.

Footwear News features editor Erin Clack (full disclosure: we once answered phones for her as an intern and think she’s lovely) reports that the ankle-strap platform is made of pewter-colored leather treated with a metallic coating. It’s named for the movie’s female lead Quorra, and Rousseau wanted the design to reflect the movie without looking like it belonged in the heart of a video game.

“In keeping with my label’s strengths, I created a style that is distinctive and strong, like the architectural nature of ‘Tron,’ yet anchored in feminine lines and luxurious constructions,” he said in a statement.

The other thing that sets these kicks apart from other movie merch? The price. The shoe will retail for $795 at a special Tron pop-up shop that will be set up in Los Angeles, and should also be available at select retailers come February. If you can save up enough pennies until then, you’ll have the shiniest shoes that ever existed.
