Wanna Know How We Know Charlotte Ronson Loves Collaborations?

Rather than just collaborate with one designer, Uniqlo has teamed up with nine labels in its newest Desigenrs Invitation Project, which will be in stores by mid-April. This time around, Charlotte Ronson, Vena Cava and Costello Tagliapietra are among the high-price brands lending their names to the low-priced retailer, and all of their Uniqlo garments will cost just $29.99.

Ronson, who also designs the I [Heart] Ronson collection for JC Penney in addition to her own eponymous contemporary label, told WWD that adding another collaboration seemed like the right decision.

“It made sense within the brand,” she said. “It’s worldwide — and through Asia, we already have a great business there.”

Gotta love those emerging markets, right? Ronson created six pieces in two colorways each, focusing on nautical prints in jersey and knitwear. She wanted to evoke a feeling of a seaside retreat.

No word yet on what the Vena Cava or Costello Tagliapietra collaborations will look like, but we do know the other brands that are in on the project. Zechia, Tiny Dinosaur, Suzuki Takayuki, Theatre Products, Nine and Double Standard Clothing will all get a little fast-fashion boost from Uniqlo’s massive international chain of stores this summer. Access to unknown or higher-tier brands at prices that don’t want to make us balk? We approve.
